Who is Clarence Avant?

Clarence Alexander Avant, known for his stage name Clarence Avant is an American music official, agent, as well as filmmaker and is also well-known as Back up parent of Dark Music.

Avant was born on 25th February 1931, in Peak, North Carolina, the U.S to the mother Gertrude Avant. His father identity hasn't revealed in the media however he is one of the eight children of his parents. He holds an American nationality and belongs to Afro-American ethnicity. 

He grew up with his siblings; four brothers and three sisters,  Ann, Brenda, Weldon, William, Harold, Paula A. Avant, and Linda Woods.

In the 1950s he started his professional career in the music business as a supervisor of the Newark, New Jersey Teddy P's Lounge. In New Jersey, Avant served as an inventory agent at Macy's and for a law catalog, but Avant was also in possession of promoter Teddy Powell.

Later R&B artist Little Willie John and other singers such as Luiz Bonfa, Luiz Kelly, Pat Thomas, Curtis Fuller, Freddie Hubbard, Kim Weston, and other others were supervised with whom Avant partnered within the Wilson Organization, Creed Taylor, Jimmy Schmith, and Lalo Schifrin.

Later, on 7 November 1962 in New York, Avant joined a company of Avant Garde Entries, Inc. the month in which Smith became a client of Associated Booking. The cat which released on 24th April 1964, by Schifrin and Smith. In September 1964, Avant launched an office on the West Coast to meet the soundtracks provided to its clients.

On 10 February 2008, the National Association of Arts and Sciences awarded him the Trustees Award. Avant also took a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 7 October 2016 for his chronicling undertakings.
